My "cousins"

These two beautiful creatures are MB's nieces, Willa, on the left, and Talia on the right. They visited recently, and I was able to play with them at MB's friend Judy's house. Unfortunately, none of the photographs from that event survived the transition from the photographer's eye to the camera lens. MB reassured Clem that it was ok; her brother doesn't take very good pictures either. While at Judy's, Willa and Talia were able to have sword fights with Judy's sons, Milo and Ivan, admire Judy's youngest boy, Asa, then swim at the pool, pet the horse and cuddle chicks. I had fun myself, though toward the end of our visit I was forced to give a whupping to an entire gang of wild dogs that plague Judy's property. Sure, they were bigger than I, but I kicked their wild dog butts. Yes, I did. There were six to ten huge dogs, all foaming at the mouth and threatening to eat the children. I threw myself between the children and harm's way and earned the praises and tearful thanks of everyone there.

These pictures were taken by MB's parents when the girls were up in Blowing Rock. I understand that my services would have been appreciated, since while they were there, both girls were threatened by MB's parents' dogs. Gilda is a small, ratlike creature who wiggles menancingly, while William, who is admittedly immature, causes great consternation to visitors by leaping over their heads. Then he, too, wiggles menacingly.

Anyway, I'm very proud of my lovely, delightful cousins, and can't wait to see them again. Whenever I am with them, I will protect them from all harm.

The only reason I allowed my nieces to make the trip to Raleigh was because I knew you'd be there to protect them. Good job, Lokey!

For your information, Mr. Clown, I do not dig or bark for entertainment. I make public service announcements, as warranted, for the benefit of the neighborhood. My neighbors, Zeul the Belgian Malinois, Max the Mutt, Kubrick the Mutt, Peski the Mutt and Jasmine the Boxer and I take turns. My shift is anywhere from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Jasmine and Max cover the night shift. Peski, Zeul and Kubrick seem to have variable schedules. We are all committed to notifying one another of important developments in and around our community. None of us asks for any thanks, but consider our service to be its own reward.

Further, for your information, I do not dig just for the sake of watching dirt fly. Rather, I create art through landscaping. It is my humble way of contributing to MB's efforts to make our home a place of grace and beauty. MB's exclamations as she examines my work tell me that she is proud, which, of course, makes me proud, too.

Thanks for watching after my girls. I am their official guardian, and I've been putting up with their antics for over 5 years. I'm sure they were on their best behavior during your brief stint, but believe me - these kids can be ruthless. Thanks to the mistreatment I received from a former owner, I have no tail for the girls to pull, but I still must endure the occassional humiliation of dress-up games, and being forced to wear human shoes. As I write, they are using my water dish as a swimming pool for their Polly Pocket dolls. Well, they make up for it by waking up Frog at the crack of dawn each day, thus ensuring that I get my morning walk bright and early. Good times.
